With new generation coming, VW Phaeton is discontinued in the UK

With sales plummeting, the Volkswagen Phaeton was discontinued in the UK. There, as in many other places where the sedan is sold, it never reached its annual target of registrations, despite the investment of 1 billion dollars. According to Bernstein analyst Max Warburton, the automaker had loss of approximately 28,000 euros (£ 99,000) each sold Phaeton. The model did not fit the new emission standards in Europe.

The existence of the Phaeton in the range of Volkswagen products never made sense. The model dispute the segment with the luxurious Audi A8 (with whom he shares components), BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz Class S. All right, the sedan has its luxuries fancier assembly and a lot of embedded technology, but who can buy a model this category hardly choose for a leading in your grill the same logo of popular cars (not by chance, Volkswagen means "people's car" in German).
To reverse the situation, almost as a matter of honor, the manufacturer prepares a whole new generation to the Phaeton, which will come to Asia and Europe in the second half of 2017 - Americans wait until 2018 or 2019.Rumors indicate that the sedan will be built from an aluminum base, becoming lighter and efficient energy and dynamically. The comfort should be the highlight of the new Phaeton, being "more comfortable than a Mercedes S Class", as shown speculation. A semi-autonomous steering system is also expected.
